Paraty: 2-Day Kayak Expedition & Wild Camping

Explore the quiet coves of Paraty Bay on a two-day guided kayaking expedition. Paddle calm waters, camp on a remote island, enjoy meals prepared by your guide and look for bioluminescent plankton after dark when conditions allow.

Escape the busier parts of Paraty on a two-day sea-kayaking expedition through Saco do Fundão, one of the bay’s more sheltered areas.

With around two hours of paddling per day, this trip leaves plenty of time to swim, explore quiet coves and enjoy a night camping close to nature.

Meet your certified guide at Paraty-Mirim Beach for a safety briefing, paddling instruction and equipment setup. No previous kayaking experience is required. The guide will explain how to handle the kayak and adjust the route to the group, tides, wind and weather conditions.

On the first day, paddle through the calm waters of Saco do Fundão, visiting places such as Praia do Furado and Ilha das Almas. Along the way, you may spot starfish, rays, sea turtles and other marine life. Dolphins are occasionally seen in the area, although wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Later, arrive at the remote camping area on Ilha da Cotia and help set up camp. Your guide prepares dinner using fresh ingredients, with an emphasis on local produce and food from the Caiçara community. After dark, enjoy the quiet surroundings and look up at the night sky. When conditions are suitable, bioluminescent plankton may make the water glow as it moves, although this natural phenomenon is not guaranteed.

The next morning, enjoy breakfast prepared by your guide before packing up and paddling through the quiet inlets of Saco do Diogo and Saco da Preguiça. After exploring the bay, return to Paraty-Mirim, completing approximately 20 km of paddling across both days.

This is a collaborative outdoor adventure. Participants help with kayaks, camping equipment and camp tasks, while the guide takes responsibility for navigation, safety and meal preparation. All main meals, drinking water, camping equipment and kayaking gear are included, so you can focus on the experience.
